The Estonian (Tallinn-Tartu) Computer Science Theory Days started in 2002 and have been organized biannually since then (since 2017 annually). The main goal of these informal friendly events is to let Estonian computer scientists of theoretical orientation to learn by hearing about the work of others. Above all, the Theory Days are targeted at graduate students in computer science, in the roles of both listeners and presenters.
The meetings take place at country hotels (nearly always a new place!) on weekends and tend to attract around 40 participants. The scientific programme consists of invited tutorial-like talks, regular technical talks and (on occasion) interactive seminars. You can hike, ski, play games, enjoy sauna. (The meetings since 2017 took place in cities.) If you never attended, make sure you can make it to the next Theory Days!
From 2010, some editions of the Theory Days have been organized jointly with colleagues from the University of Latvia as joint Estonian-Latvian (Tallinn-Tartu-Riga) events, in Latvia or Estonia.
If you wish to give a talk at the next Theory Days, please contact the organizers.
The Theory Days are organized by a standing organizing committee comprising:
The first Theory Days at Roosta in 2002 were supported by a center of excellence in research project of TUT. Those of 2003-2007 took place under the auspices of the Centre for Dependable Computing, CDC, a centre of excellence project of the Estonian state 2002-2007. In 2008, the Theory Days were supported by HITSA's Tiigriülikool programme.
From 2009 to winter 2015, the Theory Days were a meeting of the Estonian Centre of Excellence in Computer Science, EXCS, an Estonian CoE project 2008-2015 financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
At the moment, we do not have a sponsor.
